Chris Willison Named Lieutenant in Indian Wells

Chris Willison brings 13 years of law enforcement experience to his role as the new Lieutenant of the Indian Wells Sheriff’s Station. Since graduating from the Basic Peace Officers’ Academy, Lieutenant Willison has served citizens in communities throughout Riverside County.

His career began as a Deputy Sheriff assigned to the Palm Desert Sheriff’s station. In this role, he worked Patrol Operations and served the contract cities of the Palm Desert Station, including Indian Wells. He was also part of the Special Enforcement Team, which focused on combating criminal behavior with complex crime investigations.

In January 2012, Chris was promoted to Corporal and transferred to the Indio Sheriff’s Station. In this capacity, he served as shift leader and was on the Coachella Community Action team where he managed emergency situations and numerous criminal investigations.

In August 2012, he was promoted to Sergeant and was transferred to Blythe Jail where he supervised Floor Operations and mentored subordinates for advancement within the Department.

In April 2015, Chris was transferred to the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station where he supervised deputies patrolling the communities of Indian Wells, Palm Desert and Rancho Mirage. Two years later, he was transferred to the Sheriff’s Administration where he became the supervisor of the Media Information Bureau. His duties included oversight of media relations and serving as spokesperson for the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

In his current role as Lieutenant and Chief of Police for the City of Indian Wells, Chris supervises a total of 12 subordinates including a sergeant, deputies and CSO’s who work together to keep the neighborhoods of Indian Wells safe.

“I’m grateful to have been promoted to this role in the beautiful City of Indian Wells,” Chris said. “I’m fortunate to lead such a dedicated team and look forward to getting to know the residents and assist them in any way I can.”

Lieutenant Willison holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in Criminal Justice and Business Management and a Master’s Degree from the University of Phoenix in Administration of Justice and Security. Lieutenant Willison also holds a Master’s Certificate in Homeland Security from the American Military University. He has served as an academy instructor in the Coachella Valley for several years, teaching various topics to future law enforcement leaders.
