Greg Sanders Mayor

Greg Sanders is a partner in the national law firm Nossaman, LLP. He specializes in land use, planning, zoning and environmental law. He earned a J.D. degree from Pepperdine University School of Law, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and History (dual major) and a Masters degree in History from California State University, Fullerton.

Greg is a second generation Californian. He was born in Alameda, California and raised in Orange County. He served in the United States Army from 1967 to 1971 as an Infantry Officer, including a tour of duty in Vietnam. After duty in the active Army, he served in the Army Reserve for nine years. Greg is currently serving as a Lieutenant Colonel (JAG Corps) in the California Guard. 

Greg has served in a number of government positions during his career. He served as the Chief of Staff for a member of the Orange County Board of Supervisors from 1973 -1977, Chief of Staff for a member of the United States House of Representatives from 1977 to 1980 and two terms as an elected member of the Cambria Community Services District Board of Directors. Prior to his election to the Indian Wells City Council, Greg served as a member of the city's Planning Commission. 

Greg is an active member of the Rotary Club of Indian Wells and a longstanding member of the American Legion. He is also co-author of the best-selling book Bait: The Battle of Kham Due and numerous articles on the Vietnam War. Greg teaches a course on the Vietnam War at OLLI, California State University, San Bernardino (Palm Desert campus).

Greg and his wife, Teri, have three children -Sarah, Andrew and Michael. Greg and Teri reside in the Indian Wells Country Club area of Indian Wells.
