Notice:
On Thursday, April 6, 2023, City Council approved processing and funding for qualified turf rebate Applicants who previously submitted and were waitlisted between February 1, 2023 through April 5, 2023. City Staff will review the waitlisted applications in the order they were received and issue landscape permits for plans determined to be in compliance with the City's landscape requirements outlined in Section 21.60.080(7) of the City's Municipal Code. Please do not begin any work until approval is given by both the City and CVWD.
City Council approved the partnership with Coachella Valley Water District (CVWD) as of October 6, 2022; Residential Turf Conversion Projects which were deemed complete by CVWD before this date are not eligible for the City’s contribution.
City of Indian Wells required documents:
- Application Requirements
- Landscape Site Plan and/or irrigation plans
- Complete Plan – show size, location, spacing and species – common and Latin names – of proposed planting, including a complete plant palette;
- Miscellaneous Outside Structures – indicate all proposed pools, spas, fountains, concrete or wooden decks, planters, walkways, gates, low walls, etc. Also indicate proposed finishes for all flat work;
- Rock or Bare Earth – use of rocks or bare earth in lieu of ground cover plantings may not exceed twenty (20) percent of the total front yard landscaped area (fifty (50) percent of rear yard) excluding driveways, decks, pools, or walkways. When walkways, pools, or deck areas exceed sixty (60) percent of the total rear yard area, the preceding limitation shall not be in effect

Program Total Budget - $500,000
Residential Reimbursement – funds up to $300,000.00
- $3.00 per square foot for turf area
- 200 square foot minimum to 5,000 square foot maximum turf area
HOA Reimbursement – funds up to $200,000.00
- $1.00 per square foot for turf area
- 15,000 square foot maximum turf area
